Job overview

SIAMS: Outstanding (November 2015)                             Ofsted: Good (March 2019)

The Priory CofE School in Dorking is seeking to appoint an inspiring and visionary Head of Religious Education.

RE is an integral part of the curriculum through KS3 and KS4 with ALevel provision at KS5. The school is at an exciting place in its development of the curriculum at KS3 and the core offer at KS4; this offers an opportunity for a fresh and creative approach. Candidates with a clear passion and vision for the delivery of this subject would be ideally suited to join us at this pivotal point in our school’s development.

The Priory School is a successful and happy 11-19 Church of England Voluntary Aided school of 700 students, with an exceptionally positive school culture. We are rightly proud of our ‘outstanding’ SIAMS judgement and our recent ‘good’ Ofsted judgement.  We have an excellent CPD programme for all and in-house provision for recently qualified teachers. While this post would not usually be suited to an NQT, colleagues at any stage in their career with potential and talent are most welcome to apply. We are keen to recruit and develop the right person to develop and deliver a truly inspirational education to our students.

At The Priory School, our Christian distinctiveness is embodied in our core values of Wisdom, Dignity, Hope and Community and our mission is ‘Educating for Life in All its Fullness’. Our school is the embodiment of a Church school for the community, and not a faith school for the faithful.

If you wish to join a school that is destined for even greater things, working in an environment where your professional development and well-being are continuously supported, then we would welcome your application which should be submitted by no later than noon on Monday 24 February 2020.

No agencies. The successful applicant will benefit from a £1000 welcome remuneration after completion of one term.

About The Priory CofE Voluntary Aided School

The Priory School is a Church of England Voluntary Aided school.

This means that the education that we provide offers more than academic rigour and excellence. Our rates of progress are outstanding; these are enhanced and extended by our school values which are at the heart of everything we do.

The combination of academic challenge and support, the breadth and range of our curriculum and the close links we have locally and with the wider world mean that we are ‘serving our community’ and ‘educating for life in all its fullness’ every day.

We firmly believe that our values of hope, wisdom, dignity and community are meaningful, desirable and relevant foundations on which all young people can start to build their adult lives.

Schools have been set up by the Church of England for more than two centuries with the intention of educating the children of the parish. At The Priory, the vast majority of our students come from local C of E primary schools such as St Paul’s, St Martin’s, St John’s, The Weald and Surrey Hills. In addition we warmly receive students from other Dorking schools such as Powell Corderoy, St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School and North Downs, clearly indicating that we are open and welcoming to students and families of other faiths and of no faith
