St. Joseph’s College is an oversubscribed, successful 11-18 Boys’ School (Girls in the 6th Form) on the Croydon/Lambeth border. Established in 1855 St Joseph’s College is one of England’s oldest and most established Catholic State Funded Boys Schools.   In 2015 St Joseph’s College was the top performing boys’ state school across the Boroughs of Croydon, Lambeth, Merton and Lewisham, and one of the top three performing schools in the area.
 

This is an exciting opportunity to lead a core department in and is an excellent foundation for progression to senior leadership.  We are seeking to appoint a creative and dynamic Head of RE who is highly motivated and ready to lead this important part of the College as we build on our 2016 Good OFSTED rating.

You must:

  • Be a passionate advocate of the subject who contributes effectively to departmental and whole school improvement. 
  • Be highly motivated and demonstrate the highest professional standards
  • Be able to teach across the full age and ability range at age 11-18, including A-level. 
  • Be able and willing to make a full contribution to the life of the school. 
  • Have high expectations of yourself and others 
  • Be a good communicator with excellent interpersonal skills 
  • Be flexible and a good team player 

As you would expect in a Catholic school RE is compulsory for all students in years 7 to 11, and Philosophy and Ethics is offered in our mixed 6th form. The successful candidate will make a real difference to the spiritual life of the College.
