Head of Religious Education

Cardinal Hume Catholic SchoolGateshead

Salary grade: MPS/UPS + TLR 1A (Leadership Pay Scale L9-11 will be considered for outstanding applicants)

We would like to invite applications for the post of Head of Religious Education.

Our values are summed up in our school motto: ‘Fide, Labore, Caritate’, and all members of our school community live out these values – faith, hard work and kindness – every day, making Cardinal Hume a very special community to work in for our staff, and to be educated in for our students.

Graded ‘Outstanding’ in 2008 and 2014 by Ofsted and in 2019 by the Diocese of Hexham and Newcastle, Cardinal Hume is an 11 -18 academy situated in Gateshead. We are proud to be part of the Bishop Wilkinson Catholic Education Trust, a family of 5 secondary and 17 primary (increasing to 43) schools in the east of the Diocese of Hexham and Newcastle. Thus, there are a number of exciting opportunities for CPD and collaborative work across a number of schools. Furthermore, a comprehensive and bespoke support and induction programme is provided for all new staff in the school.

We are seeking to appoint a practising Catholic who is a well-qualified and outstanding practitioner to lead our Religious Education Department. This is a key leadership position within the school and is an excellent opportunity for current Heads of Department, or aspiring Heads of Department with some experience of curriculum leadership.

This is an exciting time to lead Religious Education at Cardinal Hume – we are looking for someone with the knowledge, skills and drive to shape the future direction of the curriculum in this area.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop within an established and supportive team of colleagues, and will have the benefit of working in our modern and well-resourced suite of dedicated classrooms and work areas.

The Academy is committed to safeguarding.

For further details and an application pack, please go to www.cardinalhume.com/vacancies. Alternatively, please contact Mrs Bev Davies on 0191 487 7638. Candidates should complete the application form on the school website (not TES quick apply) and submit a supporting letter to Mr. Robson, Head Teacher, of no more than two sides of A4. Candidates are, therefore, not required to complete the Supporting Statement section of the application form. Completed application forms should be sent by email to Bev Davies: BDavies@chs.bwcet.com
