Due to the retirement of the long-standing Head of Religious Education, we are able to offer an incredibly exciting opportunity for an innovative and passionate RE teacher or assistant Head of Department who is also a practising Catholic.
As a Catholic school, the RE curriculum constitutes 10% of students’ timetables across KS3 and KS4. It is essential that this curriculum is well planned and delivered and therefore provides our students with a strong and compassionate religious, moral and ethical education. The department is ready for a new phase and this is a potentially once in a career opportunity to help develop a new and contemporary RE vision and curriculum for our students.
Our Lady’s Catholic High School was opened on this site in 1904 by the Servite Sisters and the ethos of the Servite Order still underpins the values of the school to this day. The school is situated in Stamford Hill, in the middle of the Hasidic orthodox Jewish Community, on the border between Hackney and Haringey that both have diverse ethnic and religious populations. The school attracts approximately 30% practising Catholics as new entrants and welcomes students from a wide range of Christian denominations as well as students of other faiths, such as Islam and Sikh, as well as students of no faith.
The school is incredibly proud of its Catholic life and Servite values. We are an open, welcoming school with a vision for inclusion, compassion and empathy. We have been at the heart of girls’ education in Hackney for over 100 years. The school was completely rebuilt in 2012 and offers a superb working environment, supportive colleagues, a values led ethos, and a wonderfully diverse and talented student body. We are a four-form entry new build school with excellent facilities, strong track record in academic results and progress and a community that is cohesive and supportive.
Academic leadership at Our Lady’s High School is an exciting and rewarding career choice. We have a forward-thinking teaching culture; determined to place professional learning at the centre of our Teaching and Learning work. We are a school that has an absolute belief in giving our young people the very best opportunities and have value added results that show we are truly aspirational for all our students.
We Offer:
● Well-resourced and spacious planning rooms for staff on each floor
● Free use of school gym
● Innovative cloud based teaching platform
