Head of RE.
Tes is currently supporting a friendly and supportive secondary catholic school, based in Huddersfield. The school is looking to add a Head of RE to their progressive and supportive Humanities Department ideally starting in September 2021.
The role will include managing the delivery of RE at KS3 and GCSE across year groups 7 to 11. You will lead your department to enhance provision and will get the chance to lead on exciting project work throughout the year. Project work may include revising schemes of work and ensuring the curriculum is engaging to all learners alongside projects that support student attainment, well-being and engagement within the wider school. However, as Head of Department you will have full autonomy to ensure your department meets targets and exceeds needs of our learners. You will lead by example, supporting and empowering your department’s teachers, staff and pupils to achieve to the best of their ability.

The successful candidate will have the qualities to motivate and inspire our students, as we seek to always bring out the best in them. You will be required to teach both at KS3 and KS4 and will have strong classroom management skills, excellent subject knowledge, the ability to lead a department and achieve the best possible outcomes for our students. The ability to monitor and track the progress of year groups through data is essential, as is the ability to work effectively as leader of the RE team.
The college is an 11-16 school, situated near the northern boundary of Kirklees. We are a Catholic school with students attending from diverse cultural backgrounds, which contribute to the distinctive ethos. In July 2017, Ofsted judged All Saints ‘good’ in every category and “Outstanding” in terms of our recent S48 inspection by the Diocese of Leeds in June 2018."

The school expects:
• A UK teaching qualification such as PGCE/PGDE, SCITT, BEd or MEd with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
• a relevant RE Degree or a related subject
• experience of delivering RE up to GCSE level pushing and engaging learners to progress within the subject
• experience managing a department: specifically people and departmental management
• a love and passion for education.
