The successful candidate will be committed to improving the best outcomes for their students by raising attainment, achievement and progress of students with complex SEN, disabilities or medical needs. They will also be involved in securing the best provision for students through applying for EHCPs and coordinating a range of agencies to ensure students’ needs are met. Communication with parents is also a key factor of the role.

Eastlea is a 11-16 comprehensive school in East London and our vision is to provide a safe, kind and welcoming community where everyone is valued, where diversity is celebrated and relationships are rooted in mutual respect. Our community has the highest aspirations and expectations for all.

Resource Base

There are 14 places in our resourced provision which is for students with PMLD. In addition to students placed by the local authority into the Resourced Provision there are also students with EHCPs (or applications in process).

There are four groups in the Resource Base of up to ten students. These groups are supported by TAs and taught largely by Inclusion staff. Some students attend mainstream lessons. HLTAs and Classroom Practitioners lead interventions and coordinate aspects of the provision for students' medical, emotional, learning and communication needs.

The groups are defined primarily by communication level and then by key stage; KS4 Linguistics, KS3 Linguistics, Sensory + and Sensory.

We are keen to appoint a dedicated colleague who is eager to support our students to achieve in all aspects of their life and who wants to be a key contributor to our school's success. Currently, Eastlea is at an exciting time in its development, as we are a part of the Newham Community Learning Trust which consists of three other local secondaries and two local primary schools. Newham Community Learning Trust has a strong reputation for working with local Newham schools for the benefit of the whole community. Any member of staff who joins Eastlea at this time, will benefit from the sharing of expertise and professional development opportunities that exist across the Trust.

A strength that we are proud of, is our diverse staff and student community. We are a school where multiple languages are spoken and cultures are celebrated. We are fortunate to have outstanding facilities which give us the opportunity to deliver a broad curriculum and offer extra-curricular opportunities to nurture interests beyond the curriculum.

Please refer to the Job description and Person Specification when completing your application.

The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and we expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful applicant will need a full DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check, which can be applied for once a job offer is made.
