King's Rochester is seeking to appoint a suitable candidate to take on the role of Head of Rowing (Rowing Coach) on a one - year fixed term appointment from September 2022 .
This role presents an exciting opportunity for a qualified and experienced rowing coach to lead the King’s School Rochester Boat Club. Rowing is a major sport at King’s and takes place across all three terms. King’s pupils regularly compete in regattas across the South-East region. In addition to this, an extensive Games programme allows pupils to take part in a wide range of sports and activities during timetabled lessons and, as part of the school’s co curricular program.
The department consists of 7 full-time PE teachers who are well supported by a Graduate Sports Assistant, Head of Athletic Development and a Strength and Conditioning Coach who works closely with our sports scholars. Some of our games staff also teach in the Pre Preparatory School which enables us to develop core skills from an early age. A large number of academic teaching staff are actively involved in the Games programme, many of whom coach and lead teams across all sports, including rowing. Our facilities are extensive and include a Sports Centre with two fitness suites regularly used for lessons and S+C coaching. On-site the school boasts an indoor, 4 lane, 25m swimming pool which is regularly used for capsize drills and water safety tests.

King’s Rochester is a mixed, non-selective, Church of England, all-through school with nursery classes and sixth form situated in Rochester, Kent. It is an independent school with boarding provision and an associate member of the Woodard Foundation. A smaller than average school, King’s Rochester provides 800 places for nursery, preparatory, senior and sixth-form students between the ages of 3 and 18 when fully subscribed.
The oldest choir school and the second oldest school in the world, King’s Rochester has roots dating back to the founding of Rochester Cathedral in the year 604 AD. King Henry VIII refounded the school in 1542.
