Cranleigh School seeks to appoint a Head of Safeguarding who is primarily responsible to the Heads of both Cranleigh School and Cranleigh Preparatory School. 

The successful candidate will be responsible for the day to day managing of safeguarding cases and practices across both Schools’ and work closely with the DSLs to set and maintain a culture of safeguarding as the first priority for every member of staff in both schools. 

You will have a comprehensive understanding of all aspects of safeguarding and will be able to inspire confidence in students, staff, families and external agencies. The person will have extensive experience of managing safeguarding issues and working with a range of agencies to keep children and young people safe. Excellent communication skills and resilience are essential. 

The Head of Safeguarding will work a total of 40 hours per week during term time and may involve occasional Saturday mornings. Hours may be required during the holidays as necessary, to fulfil the demands of the role depending on safeguarding activity.

Cranleigh is a leading co-educational weekly boarding and day school set in a stunning rural location in more than 280 acres on the edge of the Surrey Hills. In 2015 the School celebrated its 150th anniversary; it has come a long way since its establishment as a school to support the local farming community in 1865.

Location
Cranleigh’s 280 acre site, situated eight miles from Guildford near the Surrey - West Sussex border, is part of Cranleigh Village and within forty-five minutes of London. 

Heathrow and Gatwick airports are within easy access; there is a fast, regular train service from Guildford to Waterloo.
