Job overview

At Woodside School, we are at an exciting point of improvement and are seeking to appoint an outstanding leader who shares our vision and values. We are an all age special school (5-19), catering for children and young people with a range of learning difficulties, currently including Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and moderate learning needs. Our School is part of the Belmont Woodside Federation. The two schools share one Executive Headteacher. We are committed to enabling our young people to achieve their best in education and in preparation for future life. We have high expectations for all our young people, we strive to ensure that individual needs, interests and abilities are recognised and met. We celebrate difference whilst encouraging curiosity and creativity. We work hard to enable our young people to be independent, resilient and able to make positive life choices, confidently contributing to and being valued by the communities in which they live.

Governors at Woodside School are looking for a Head of School to work closely with our Executive Head Teacher and with Belmont (our Federation partner school). We are looking for someone who wants to influence and guide our vibrant learning community. We need someone who has a strong belief in the potential of all learners and has an excellent record of achieving the highest standards of learning behaviour and outcomes for all.

We are proud of our school and the changes that have been implemented over the past few years. Our pupils are a delight to be with and a pleasure to teach and our growing team of dedicated and committed staff work hard to provide the best possible provision for our complex and sometimes vulnerable children and young people. We have a relatively new leadership team who share our vision and values, are a strong support for colleagues and a strong support for each other. Woodside is a great place to work and we are quite rightly proud of our achievements so far.

We work closely with Belmont our partner school and with other schools locally and further afield. We provide extensive CPD for all our staff and are interested in appointing someone who can further develop opportunities for staff to flourish.
