Job overview

Lightcliffe Academy is a school on the up. Our most recent Ofsted inspection in spring this year confirms the progress we have made and we are committed to sustaining this momentum – to embed and build on what we have achieved so far. Our new Head of School will play the central leadership role in achieving this – working with a talented and committed staff team and with full support from Abbey Multi Academy Trust.

There are a number of reasons why this is a great opportunity to take the next step in your career. You’ll have the autonomy you need to make decisions on what will work best in the school. But you’ll also have the full support and guidance of an Executive Principal who works across the Trust’s three secondary schools. That makes this an ideal opportunity for an aspiring Deputy Head or Vice Principal. Trust leaders have a very clear sense of the school’s strengths, progress and areas for development and the proven school improvement methodologies to support the Head of School in moving things forward. A programme of improvements to the school’s facilities and environment is already in place to create a fantastic learning environment where students and teachers can thrive.

It’s an opportunity that will suit a highly conscientious school leader, who wants to work with and through others to achieve the best outcomes for their students. You’ll need to be diligent and meticulous in your approach – consistency of standards and methodologies are at the core of the school’s improvement plan. You’ll ensure that all members of the team understand the contribution that they can make to the school’s success and that they have the professional support and challenge they need to excel in what they do.

We expect that you’ll be able to demonstrate how you have contributed to a school’s improvement journey in your career. Most importantly, you will be motivated to achieve the best for our students, and to lead a happy and successful school, where expectations are high and staff and pupils are supported and encouraged to achieve their best.
