About International School Ikast-Brande

International School lkast-Brande was founded in 2009 and swiftly became the leading international school in the area. Located in the heart of Denmark, in purpose-built facilities of outstanding architectural quality, ISIB is an inclusive school dedicated to providing a high-quality international education to families who relocate to Denmark, as well as to families in the surrounding area who want a rigorous and international education for their children. The Cambridge International Curriculum and IGCSE examinations, combined with the International Primary Curriculum, are our points of academic reference. We also offer Danish national examinations in the Danish language.

We have approximately 200 students on roll, aged from 2 years 9 months to 17-year-olds, with a secondary section comprising approximately 70 students. ISIB is a big family with a strong community atmosphere. Our students represent over 30 nationalities, providing a rich and diverse school environment.

ISIB students of all ages are confident and outgoing, and extremely positive about their school. Their parents are supportive and actively involved in the learning of their children. We encourage  our students to find a balance between academic success and other interests. We promote strong ethical principles to our students, empowering them to make good decisions for themselves. This creates a positive environment where self-discipline flourishes. Staff and students look forward to coming to school and working together each day.

Denmark and lkast-Brande Municipality

Denmark is often referred to as the world's happiest country, famous for the concept of hygge ('cosiness and conviviality') and its strong social democracy. Denmark is an open, friendly country with a reputation for safety, a clean environment, and progressive thinking. A healthy work-life balance is important in Danish culture, and people enjoy varied outdoor activities in their free time: hiking and camping, cycling, sailing and other watersports, and enjoying the endless sandy beaches along the North Sea and Baltic Sea coasts. There are over 400 islands in the Danish archipelago, and the country is rich in forests, lakes, and charming historic towns.

lkast is located in the centre of the country and enjoys excellent transport links by road and rail.  The lively town of Herning is ten minutes' drive away; the 'Danish Lake District' around Silkeborg  is within 30 minutes' drive; North Sea beaches can be reached in an hour, and Germany in a little over two hours. We also have easy access to nearby Billund airport with international connections across Europe and beyond. Midtjylland is a beautiful and dynamic region, famous for its independent 'can-do' attitude, as epitomized by the sporting success of FC Midtjylland, based in Herning. lkast-Brande Municipality is home to leading multinational companies such as Siemens and Bestseller, and is the heartland of the Danish textile industry, as well as being home to numerous entrepreneurs and start-ups.

lkast's community is the ideal place for a family and an exciting new adventure for travellers.  There are many international forums and groups to help newcomers settle and meet people.  Most Danes speak excellent English, and Danish is a fun language to learn.
