Job overview

Kirk Hallam Community Academy’s Governors and the Nova Education Trust and are seeking an ambitious and inspirational leader to build on the strong foundations of our school that is deeply rooted in its local community, and lead continued improvements as our next Head of School.

We are a medium-sized 11–18 academy situated in the Erewash district of Derbyshire, admitting pupils into Year 7 from 15 local primary schools. We are proud to be part of the Nova Education Trust and benefit from the support of colleagues from across the organisation, though have autonomy to make the very best decisions for our community which allows us to be responsive to their needs.

With a great deal of work having already been undertaken to move the school into a stronger, more focused, and resilient position –with healthy finances and the ability to invest in areas that will have a great deal of impact on the quality of our pupil and student experience – we are poised to develop the next set of plans with our new Head of School.

Since qualifying as a secondary school teacher, we need you to have demonstrated a passion for school leadership and improvement. Complimenting your passion for high-quality, innovative and responsive teaching and learning will be your experience in leading improvements to curriculum development, teaching and learning, pastoral support and enrichment, and you will be able to evidence the positive impact that your work has had on the experience of children and young people.

Your experience of senior leadership will be welcomed by us, as will your knowledge of school-based strategic and curriculum planning.  You will be accustomed to interpreting data and using it to inform governors, the Trust’s executive, and staff to enhance exceptional performance and support under performance.

We see this as an ideal opportunity for an aspirant Deputy Head with an incredible track record of success who is eager to apply their experience gained to their first headship, whilst also very much welcoming applications from existing Headteachers looking to enhance their skills within a values-led, collegiate and successful multi-academy trust serving the cities of Nottingham and Leicester, and counties of Leicestershire, Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire.

Kirk Hallam Community Academy and the Nova Education Trust are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful candidate will be subject to an enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references.

Closing date: 12 pm, Wednesday 5th January 2022
