Job overview

Reporting directly to the Principal, the post holder will be accountable for the success and progression of a third of the college’s Sixth Form College students (approx. 240 students). You will manage a group of approximately 12 teaching staff and a progress tutor and be part of the Sixth Form Management Team.

Currently this curriculum area contains Maths, English, Sport and Public Services but the exact configuration of subject will depend on the experience of the successful candidate. Teaching and Learning in Sport and Public Services was described as outstanding in last year’s Ofsted inspection.

The college is looking for an individual who is passionate about improving students’ lives and life chances through education. You will already have proved yourself to be an exceptional teacher, manager and leader and can provide evidence of raising standards as a subject or department head.

Heads of School are responsible and accountable for both the quality of teaching and the effectiveness of student support their students receive.

You will have a small teaching commitment depending on circumstances and subject need.

Heads of School also take on a cross college responsibility - in this case, the cross-college numeracy and literacy strategy and progress reporting strategy.

You will be seeking a role in which you can have a substantial impact on the quality of teaching right across a small but relatively complex organisation.

If you are interested in applying for this position, details about our College, further information and an application form are available on our website at: www.stvincent.ac.uk. Alternatively, please contact Human Resources on 023 9260 3677 or email hr@stvincent.ac.uk
