An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dedicated Head of School – ICT, Computer Sciences and Digital in one of the country’s largest Colleges.

The City of Liverpool College Group serves 12,000 learners each year from a diverse variety of backgrounds. With state-of-the-art facilities, the College is home to ground breaking innovation and involved in a wide variety of exciting new developments across the city.

The Head of School for ICT, Computer Sciences and Digital will lead on the new Digital Academy for the City of Liverpool College. The Academy is equipped with the latest digital technology and software to develop the skills and potential to support the growth and opportunities in digital skills across the City Region. The post holder will have a track record of innovative practice in digital education and be aspirational with regards to the potential that this £2.5m investment brings to the college and local businesses. The successful candidate will work closely with industry partners to attract further investment that will ensure future economic growth and job opportunities for the students studying in these areas of work.

The role is accountable for effectively planning, communicating, implementing, tracking, managing and leading the curriculum in ICT, Computer Sciences and Digital within the Creative and Digital Pillar. The post holder will ensure that the curriculum is up-to-date and of high quality and meets the needs of the students and of the local, regional and national economies. They will develop, manage and oversee partnerships, sponsorships, employability initiatives and collaborations with industry to enhance employer engagement and employment opportunities for students within this area.

You will have proven success as the accountable person for improving student performance & retention rates over multiple curriculum years. The successful candidate will be educated to Level 5 in a subject area relevant to ICT, computing and digital coupled with a recognised teaching qualification (or new qualification to be begun within 12 months in post).

Opened in 1992 after being formed from a number of colleges in the city we now have 5 locations situated in the heart of Liverpool. Currently the college serves more than a third of all 16-18 year olds in Liverpool, and educates almost 12,000 learners a year. In 2018 the college achieved a pass rate of 99.6% beating the national average of 97.6% for a-level results. Within this year as well we had a 100% pass rate in modern languages.

However, the college itself is not just facts and figures. The mission statement of provide high quality skills and education by delivering opportunities for growth to all people and business of the Liverpool City region, shows inclusivity and a community understanding. The ease in which to get here helps quite a lot to. Be it driving, buses, trains or even a ferry you are never short of options. 

Being that working/living in Liverpool does offer a wide range of experiences to have. Historical buildings like the Bombed out church, Royal court theatre house or even a hidden gem like the Bluecoat School lane which boasts being the oldest building in Liverpool. The Beatles museum is a popular place to explore the band and possible find bits out about them you might not have known. Or if just unwinding and relaxing there are multiple pubs/bars, restaurants, and comedy nights to enjoy.
