AMIS is a thriving international school in Kampala, offering high quality primary education to 270 children aged between 3 and 11. Since opening its doors in 1997, AMIS has established itself as one of the leading schools in the region, offering a broad and balanced education to children from all around the world.

The curriculum at AMIS is modelled on the National Curriculum for England in our Early Years department (EYFS) and in maths and English in the primary school. The school is fully accredited by the Council of International Schools (CIS) and in June 2019 became the first school in Uganda to obtain International Primary Curriculum (IPC) accreditation. The opportunities that students enjoy outside the classroom are just as important as the main curriculum and we offer an extensive and varied extracurricular activities programme.

AMIS is a unique school that places the wellbeing of our students and the interests of our community at the heart of everything we do. It is our goal that every student is given the tools to make a positive difference during their time with us enhancing their own life and the lives of others.

Our vision of ‘Empowering pupils to become confident, compassionate and internationally minded learners’ perfectly captures the ethos of this great school, where students are able to thrive in a nurturing yet challenging environment, to achieve the best possible educational outcomes and, to flourish as individuals during the experience. We celebrate this individuality in all that we do, praising a wonderful piece of artwork as warmly as we do a top award in mathematics, and promoting sporting achievement as much as successes in reading and writing.

It is this warmth of spirit that sets AMIS apart, where every student, every member of staff and every parent can find their place. Schools are often talked about as being happy places, but AMIS is made up of happy people - happy to be respected, valued, and appreciated, given every opportunity to succeed in a way that is meaningful to them.
