Head of School

South Lincolnshire Academies TrustLincolnshire

Due to further expansion across the Trust and an increase in student numbers, South Lincolnshire Academies Trust is seeking to appoint two inspirational, and dynamic Heads of School for Bourne Academy and Spalding Academy.

These are two new posts to enhance our current Trust leadership structure.  Each Head of School will be based in one of the two Trust schools, with the roles intended to build on our existing strengths and to continue to inspire and lead the school to achieve its full potential whilst working in partnership with colleagues across the wider Trust schools.

Bourne Academy and Spalding Academy are popular oversubscribed non-selective mixed secondary schools, with both being in the ‘top’ 10 schools in Lincolnshire (DfE Performance Tables).  Both schools are graded “Good” by Ofsted in their last reports and progress for the students continues to improve year on year.

These are ideal roles for someone who is working at Headteacher or Deputy Headteacher level.  Candidates should have a strong and proven track record of leading change, raising attainment and developing education strategy.

You will work alongside the Trust Executive Headteacher and the four Trust Executive Deputy Headteachers to continue to raise standards at a sustained pace with a team that is committed to doing so.  You will have a passion for school improvement and be able to lead and support a creative approach to learning.  If you are driven, resilient and relish a challenge, this would provide the right opportunity for you to forge your own path where your work is truly valued and, where you will receive the recognition and rewards to motivate you to build on your achievements.

The Trust is looking for an exceptional candidate for both Bourne Academy and Spalding Academy who has:

• A clear vision, strong leadership and effective leadership and management skills;

• Experience of partnerships working to achieve successful outcomes;

• Experience of project management;

• Enthusiasm and drive to build upon our many strengths, and use these and their own, to take the school to the next stage of its development and prepare students for their future.

This is a critical yet exciting time to join our Trust which now consists of three schools:

• Bourne Academy, the lead school in the Trust

 • Spalding Academy, which joined the Trust in 2016

• Giles Academy, which became part of our Trust in September 2020

Fundamental to the Trust success is that all three schools are in close proximity to each other, within a 45-minute radius.

The Trust offers exceptionally pleasant working environments.  Our school sites offer a calm and safe place, where staff and students work hard, achieve a great deal and enjoy excellent working relationships.

Staff retention is excellent; staff work collaboratively across the Trust supporting colleagues and sharing best practice.  All three Trust schools have a strong pastoral team and there is a strong focus on staff well-being and reducing workload.

The Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all its staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All post holders are subject to satisfactory clearances prior to taking up an offer of employment.

If you would like to visit either Bourne Academy or Spalding Academy (or both) please contact Miss Vanessa Weekes (SLAT Personnel Manager at Bourne Academy) via email weekesv@bourneacademy.org.

We look forward to hearing from you in due course.
