About us

The Mead Academy Trust is looking for a passionate and energetic Head of School for River Mead, Melksham with the vision and drive to lead the school on the next stage of its school improvement journey.

River Mead joined the trust in September 2014. At this time the school was in an Ofsted category of Special Measures. We are proud of the significant and sustained progress the school has made, which was recognised in our recent Ofsted (July 2016):

• “The Head of School and Executive Headteacher have been unrelenting in driving forward the significant improvements since the previous inspection. Leaders aspire for every pupil to be a successful learner….staff share this aspiration.”
• “Children talk positively about school and are eager to learn…..[they] thrive in a nurturing environment which allows them to develop positive attitudes and make strong gains in their learning.”
• “Pupils are extremely well mannered and courteous.”

We are now looking for a new Head of School who has the ability to drive the vision of a school where there is a rich and engaging curriculum, expectations of excellence, where individuals are valued, achievements are celebrated and children are happy and safe.

• have a vision for further raising the quality of provision and standards

The appointed candidate will work closely with Lyssy Bolton, as Executive Headteacher/National Leader of Education, and will be supported by The Mead Academy Trust's collaborative, high-performing and supportive strategic leadership team.
