Head of School
Queen Elizabeth High School, Hexham
Queen Elizabeth High School can trace its history all the way back to an original charter granted in 1599. However, it’s the next chapter in our school’s development that makes this such an exciting time to take on this leadership role. September 2021 will see the co-location of Hexham Middle School on the existing QEHS site, with both schools benefiting from a £40m rebuilding project to create a brand new campus that will enable the schools to flourish for generations to come.
This is an ideal opportunity for someone to develop their whole school leadership credentials in a setting where expectations are high, but with the assurance of guidance and mentoring from an experienced Executive Headteacher. You’ll take responsibility for the day-to-day management of the school, and be the focal point for staff, students and parents. You can expect considerable autonomy in decision-making, as well as the opportunity to consult and collaborate on issues where you would welcome additional support. It’s a role where the right person will thrive.
We want our new Head of School to be a conscientious and committed school leader – someone who will be passionate about our school’s ethos and values, and model them on a daily basis. You’ll need the personal and professional presence to quickly win the trust and confidence of staff, students and parents through an engaging and approachable management style. Able to harness and develop the talent and potential of others, you’ll be ideally placed to build on what we already do well, enhancing our collective capacity and bringing a keen focus to areas where we know we can improve.
