Following the promotion of the current post holder, an exciting opportunity has arisen to guide Alderman White School through its next stage of development.

Alderman White School is a friendly, thriving and stimulating place to work and study. We set high aims for every student and appoint staff who can inspire and motivate the school community. Following our recent ‘Good’ Ofsted judgement, and a rise in student achievement, we are looking for someone who shares our vision to establish ‘A Culture of Excellence’ and our belief that all students have the potential to succeed. Success is represented by happy, confident, well-rounded students who make excellent progress and who are well-equipped and confident to tackle the next stages of their life and contribute positively to their community.

Our new Head of School will be someone who is making rapid progress in their career, who has shown that they can thrive under the challenges of leadership and is ready to move to a new level. They will have a clear vision and sense of purpose. They will work well as part of our Trust team, but be single-minded in their desire to succeed for Alderman White.

Alderman White is part of the White Hills Park Federation Trust, a small, successful Multi-Academy Trust, with strong vision and values. The Head of School will lead Alderman White School and play a key part in supporting the leadership of the Trust as a whole, as we enter a new and exciting stage of development.

We are looking for a candidate who will:

  • Lead the school with passion and a focus on quality that grows both the school and the schools’ reputation
  • Keep learning at the heart of school leadership
  • Collaborate and build high performing teams; inspire, motivate and develop sustainable relationships with all members of the school community
  • Engage with students, teachers, parents and the community in a manner that is open, inclusive and conveys the values of the Academy Trust and the school

Alderman White School is a co-educational, no-denominational secondary with sixth form in Nottinghamshire. As of the most recent inspection there were 840 pupils on the school roll, of which 239 were in the sixth form. The school has held academy status since 2012, and is affiliated with the White Hills Park Trust. The school is located in the town of Bramcote, which has a population of 7,300, and is located five miles west of Nottingham.

Values and vision

Alderman White’s team of teachers and support staff work tirelessly to ensure that every child is educated in an inspirational atmosphere and take into account the needs of every child in their care. Innovation and thinking outside the box, is encouraged in a can-do setting.

Alderman White is a specialist language college with established links to the local community. Primary languages of French and German are taught here, with Spanish taught at sister college Bramcote College. GCSEs and A-Levels are also offers a wide range of languages including Arabic, Chinese, Italian, Japanese, Polish and Urdu. Alderman White also remains one of the few facilities in the West Midlands to offer adult education provision for languages, for learners of all proficiencies plus Family Language Classes on Saturday mornings.

“The behaviour of students is good. Students, including those in the sixth form, approach their learning with commitment and enthusiasm, bring the right equipment to class and present their work neatly. They understand how their behaviour contributes to learning, and they respect the clear rules for conduct. They collaborate effectively in lessons. Students report that disruption in lessons is rare.”
