Job overview

The School of Health Professions hosts a unique and comprehensive range of health and social care disciplines comprising: Dietetics, Optometry, Physiotherapy, Podiatry, Occupational Therapy, Social Work and Para-medicine. Each of these seven disciplines supports a professional undergraduate programme which, in each case, is approved by the relevant regulator and also accredited by the appropriate professional body. The School has experienced continued expansion in recent years and currently around 1100 undergraduate students are enrolled onto these programmes.

In addition, the School offers an expanding range of professional postgraduate programmes and pathways as well as leading the development of a MClin Res programme leading to NIHR funding. The School has transformed its research culture and was the major contributor to UoA3 in the 2014 REF. This trajectory is expected to continue in terms of outputs and impact to the REF 2021.

We are looking for an exceptional academic leader to drive the School forward and be responsible for the delivery of local plans in response to Institutional strategy.

You will have an outstanding academic track record with a publication and research funding profile that demonstrates an internationally excellent standing in your field. You will be a research-leader, demonstrating both personal research excellence, and the potential to drive forward the research agenda of the School. You will also possess proven experience in academic leadership and in the formulation of strategy and the translation of strategy to action.

The role will be for 3 years initially, with the potential to extend for a further 2 years, at which point the successful candidate will move to an appropriate substantive post. This is a full-time post working 37 hours per week.
