Head of School/ Principal

St Peter’s Cambridge is one of New Zealand’s leading independent, co-educational secondary schools. It is of Anglican affiliation and has over 1200 students from year 7 through to year 13. Around 400 of those students live within the co-ed boarding on campus grounds. The school is situated in a unique setting on 100 hectares of beautiful grounds, surrounded by school-owned farmland alongside the Waikato River. It provides a broad balanced high quality education, offering both NCEA and International Baccalaureate within an independent setting.

St Peter’s was founded in 1936 with the aim of a holistic education, focusing its students on a “life of service, ready leadership and clear thinking.” The school has not wavered from this and today strives to develop well rounded people with a strength of character and positive mindset focusing on mind, body and spirit for all students.

The Trust Board is looking to appoint the Head of School, to partner with the Board and the broader St Peter’s community. This role is accountable with the Board for the school strategy development and implementation; setting and maintaining St Peter’s holistic teaching and learning culture. It evolves around key relationship management, academic outcomes, teaching and learning performance and development of stunning co-curricular outcomes.

The St Peter’s broader setting is large and complex and the Head of school will work alongside the Head of Commercial in reporting to the Board.

The Head of School will be responsible for the teaching and learning within the group including the related financial management and budgeting, shared management services (with the Head of Commercial), boarding and admissions. Direct reports to Head of School include the Campus Principal, Director of Boarding, Director of Co-Curricular and Director of Admissions. The Head of School has overall responsibility for students, staff and families experiences at St Peter’s.

The Head of School will have experience in leading innovation and change and learning design and delivery with a future focused approach in the development of student pathways. The leader will value new ideas while honouring the history and traditions of St Peter’s and remain empathetic to its special Christian character. This is an outstanding opportunity to take on the leadership of an organisation shaping the next generation of St Peter’s students. You will have had experience as a Head of School or Principal of a medium to large school and international experience would be an advantage.
