Job overview

As we continue to develop our education provision, we now have an opportunity for an experienced senior leader to join our Totton School and lead it through a period of change, whilst continuing to focus on providing our students with the best education experience possible.

The successful candidate will have a drive and passion for the leadership of learning and be able to demonstrate with confidence in their abilities to quickly shape and continuously improve the quality of our education offering. Ensuring to take a strong lead in propelling the school’s curriculum, enabling more of our pupils to thrive and exceed through each stage of their educational journey.

Our new Head of School will inspire, nurture, develop and empower our employees. Will have resilience and flexibility, and have a proven track-record in delivering strong educational outcomes for students with SEN. They will lead by example, demonstrating their confidence in developing a consistency in teaching that facilitates the best learning for children.

• Have extensive experience in supporting students with SEN.

Qualifications and training

Essential:

• Qualified Teacher Status or equivalent e.g. QTLS

• Degree or equivalent e.g. Cert Ed.

Desirable:

• NPQML/MPQSL/MPQH or equivalent


Experience

• Successful leadership and management experience in a school (minimum 3 years at Senior Leadership Level).

• Teaching experience (Minimum of 5 years, of which 2 years must be in SEN setting).

• Involvement in school self-evaluation and development planning.

• Demonstrable experience of successful line management and staff development.

New Forest School is an independent, outstanding, special school from 8 – 16 years providing tailored educational packages for our students.
