Tes are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and inspirational Head of Science on a full-time basis from September 2021. 

This is an exciting opportunity to join an independent, co-educational establishment which is a proud member of an established group of schools. Their international colleagues support each other, sharing ideas and practices from around the world. It is an international family of over 70 schools in the UK, Europe, Latin America and Asia. 

The school offers a supportive and nurturing environment where pupils feel secure and are set challenges which enable them to meet or exceed expectations. There are currently approximately 400 Year 7-11 pupils on roll.

Science is taught from Years 7-11 to all students at the school. In Year 7-8 pupils are taught in their form groups. In Year 9-11, all pupils study either Combined Science, or many opt to study Separate Sciences from Year 10. The department follows the AQA specification. To support this, the curriculum has been carefully designed to ensure that from Year 7, pupils are enthusiastic about the importance of Science whilst gaining the skills and knowledge they need to be successful with the new Science GCSEs (9-1).

The department is comprised of a highly collaborative team of professionals who meet regularly to monitor and assess pupil process in each scientific discipline. The team are committed to providing pupils with innovative lessons which enhance their understanding of the lessons and resources are reviewed regularly to ensure they provide maximum engagement and clear opportunities for pupils to assess their development of key scientific skills and processes. The department places a great deal of emphasise on pupils appreciating the work of professional scientists through competitions, trips, and guest speakers.

The school are looking for a well-qualified and enthusiastic teacher to lead the Science Department. The successful candidate will be committed to promoting science in the curriculum and the co-curricular activities of the school, while delivering high quality teaching and learning through KS3 and KS4. All staff are actively involved in the pastoral life of school. The role will also offer opportunity for contribution to the varied and vibrant extra-curricular programme.
