Head of Science

Term time, required from 1 September 2021

We are looking for an outstanding, inspiring Head of Science with a passion for education. The post will suit a well-qualified and experienced individual, committed to delivering an exceptional learning experience for every pupil and leading a core department in the school. The science subjects are highly popular and successful at Woldingham. The department consists of a team of 12 highly committed science teachers who work with a focus on developing academic curiosity, on the application of practical skills and on fostering independent learning. There is a culture of sharing resources and ideas. The department is well supported by a team of enthusiastic and experienced technicians.

Our girls’ passion for the sciences speaks for itself. From courses based on Pearson Exploring Science, to Advanced Level courses, the sciences are a popular and successful choice every year. Our school has an excellent record of Oxbridge success too. In addition, we provide an outstanding range of facilities including a dedicated suite of laboratories and a well-resourced library. We are looking for a colleague who will be proactive in raising the profile of the department, including the development of its academic societies and Oxbridge mentoring.

The ability to teach science across all Key Stages and one of the disciplines up to A Level & Oxbridge is essential, combined with first-rate organisation, team working and ICT skills.

Professional development and staff welfare

Our professional team of staff is Woldingham’s greatest asset, and we want to ensure that everyone is supported to work in an effective, enjoyable and fulfilling way.
