You will work alongside a fantastic team to continue to achieve the highest possible outcomes for students irrespective of their backgrounds or starting points.

The role of Head of Science at Outwood Academy Adwick would be ideal for either an experienced Head of Department or someone looking to make that next step. You will be supported extensively by a team of Science Directors allowing you to strategically lead the department, whilst having the support and advice from the Director team. This is a great opportunity for the right candidate to lead a progressive department and be pivotal in shaping their journey to world class. You will be supported within the department by a Lead Teacher and a 2nd in Science.

The department has made huge strides in the last 12-15 months, whereby they achieved record results in 2018-19 with a Science progress score of +0.12. Attainment at 44+ and 55+ rose by over 20% from the previous year and above the national average for both measures, whilst our Separate Science students achieved 100% 444+ and 95% 555+, again the highest results in the Academy’s history. Furthermore, our Post-16 numbers have seen record numbers within our A-Level Biology, Chemistry and Physics options and next year we hope to expand our suite of subjects offered at Post-16 from 3 A Levels to a total of 6 A Levels/Vocational courses. Hence this is a critical appointment for the Academy and is an exciting opportunity for you to move your career onto the next stage.
