Head of Science

Tes is supporting the appointment of a talented, knowledgeable, and enthusiastic teacher to lead a Science Department into the future at a school based in Hillingdon.
The successful candidate will be able to communicate their enjoyment of the subject to students, strive to maintain the highest academic standards and promote a genuine passion for science and its place in today’s world. There is also the opportunity to teach STEAM enrichment classes throughout the school.
The successful candidate will teach throughout the age range, including KS3, GCSE and A Level. They have no preference over specialism (Biology, Chemistry or Physics); however, you should feel confident teaching all three Sciences to a high standard at GCSE and at least one specialism at A-level. The successful applicant would also assume the position as either Head of Biology or STEM Coordinator, depending on their specialism. Commitment to wider school life is expected.
The Department:
This is an exciting time to join as a leader of the school's Science Department. They have a newly opened Science building (The Alvarium) at the heart of the school, with state-of-the-art labs and facilities, offering a cutting-edge teaching and learning environment. They have a dedicated Maker Space lab, which includes 3D Printers and a Laser Cutter, as well as a dedicated Junior School Science Lab.
About the School:
The school is an independent, academically selective day school for approximately 880 girls aged 3-18. At the school, they value character and academic rigour equally.
Both pupils and staff are encouraged to find and develop their passions and talents, through clubs, societies and an extensive programme of CPD.
The successful candidate will be similarly ambitious for the school and ready to make an impact in their vibrant learning community.
