Batley Multi Academy Trust’s sole purpose is to provide a great education for Primary and Secondary learners throughout a local family of schools. Batley Multi Academy Trust currently comprises Batley Girls’ High School, Upper Batley High School, Batley Grammar School, Healey Junior, Infant and Nursery School, Field Lane Junior, Infant and Nursery School and Manorfield Infant and Nursery School. We provide high quality education for all young people. This collaboration enables us to share expertise, knowledge and best practice to ensure academic and pastoral excellence throughout all of our schools, with all schools embracing the same overall ethos and values, whilst maintaining their own unique characters. 

Upper Batley High School was identified as a Beacon School in the Northern Challenge report due to the excellent progress our disadvantaged learners make. We also hold the Gold Award for Mental Health & Wellbeing, the PSHCE Charter Mark, the Careers Quality Standard and we are a lead school within the Kirklees Careers Hub. We are one of only a few schools in the UK to achieve 100% in all Gatsby benchmarks. Ofsted identified our careers programme as a “real strength of the school” and we are in the top 14% of all schools nationally. 

Our 11-16 school is multi-cultural and located close to the town centre, within easy access of the motorway network. Our work is focused on developing the unique potential of every individual whilst working towards becoming an outstanding educational organisation. We are seeking to appoint an innovative and enthusiastic Head of Science to lead our successful, supportive and hardworking department. If you are a highly effective classroom teacher with excellent leadership and communication skills and are keen to make a difference to the learning and aspirations of our children, then we would welcome your application.

The successful candidate will:

  • Lead the Science Team to become an outstanding department with outstanding outcomes.
  • Ensure all learners are high achievers in Science.
  • Plan, develop, monitor and evaluate all Science courses
