Job overview

Ref: 15-16/CPA/032

The ‘outstanding’ City of Peterborough Academy are seeking an inspirational leader to join a dynamic and motivated team.

The City of Peterborough Academy, sponsored by the Greenwood Dale Foundation Trust, first opened in September 2013 for year 7 pupils and will now be welcoming its first group of pupils into Key Stage 4 in September 2016. The Academy has quickly grown from strength to strength, setting high standards of educational success for pupils from the outset.

The most recent Ofsted inspection in April 2015 judged the Academy to be Outstanding. The inspectors noted that careful planning in a Year 7 science lesson and the teacher’s insistence of the use of high level scientific language enabled students to work enthusiastically to analyse their findings and deepen their knowledge and understanding. Within the City of Peterborough Academy, there is a specific focus on how science works (using skills and knowledge in practical settings, problem solving and developing reasoning), to develop a love of learning and inspire budding scientists.

To be successful, you must have an outstanding track record as a teaching practitioner and experience of raising standards of attainment. You must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, setting high expectations of staff and the department as a whole. You must also share our ethos that every child can succeed, despite the challenges they may face, and be relentless in the pursuit of realising this belief.

The academy is part of the Greenwood Academies Trust (GAT) which has a proven track record in school improvement. The Trust provides centralised services and support to enable staff to focus on teaching. Being part of the Trust enables us to share specialist best practice and work collaboratively with colleagues in other academies.

If you are interested in working at the leading edge of education, we would like to hear from you. Visits to the Academy are warmly welcomed. Please contact Hannah Best, Office Manager on 01733 821440 or email admin@cityofpeterboroughacademy.org to arrange a mutually convenient appointment.
