The Governors wish to appoint a committed, enthusiastic and well-qualified teacher to lead our Science department into the next stage of its development. Ashton Community Science College is an 11-16 mixed school with 687 pupils on roll and was rated as Good by Ofsted in the last inspection in 2013. Our goal is to be an outstanding High School and we are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, well qualified leader to teach across the full ability and age range, who is committed to raising standards by inspiring learners. If you believe that young people deserve nothing less than the best and have the passion, drive and ambition to make a difference as a teacher in a key subject area, you would be a welcome addition to our school family.

The successful candidate will:

- lead a team of highly able professionals

- be an excellent classroom practitioner

- be ambitious to raise attainment and achieve positive outcomes for all students

- have a strong commitment to engaging students of all abilities

- be innovative and inspirational in their classroom delivery

- have a strong desire to contribute to the extra-curricular life of the school

We welcome applications from experienced teachers who have an ambition to further their own professional development, have an enthusiasm for their subject and for working with young people.  Candidates should state their specialism on their application, though being an outstanding teacher can outweigh being a specialist in Biology, Chemistry or Physics. They should have a real interest in a wide range of teaching and learning approaches and enjoy working in a team. A full programme of support is available as part of our commitment to investing in high quality staff.

Please note we regret we are unable to contact individual applicants who may be unsuccessful at this time.

The post you are applying for is covered by the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (as amended in 2013). If successful you will be required to apply to the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) for a 'disclosure'.

Interview date: 23 February 2018.

Applications should be submitted electronically by 9am on Monday 19 February 2018 to Human Resources: lhill@ashtoncsc.com.
