As a high profile British international school, for children aged 3-18, we focus on developing a growth mindset within our students and staff. As Head of Science you will lead a team of 15 like-minded staff, all highly qualified, working in fully serviced laboratories supported by 3 talented full-time technicians.

Doha College offers a well-balanced all-embracing curriculum.  In Science, at Key Stage 3, we have developed our own teaching programme which is based on the UK curriculum tailored to the needs of our international student body. We teach Biology, Chemistry and Physics to all levels from Key Stage 3 to Key Stage 5 leading to iGSCE and iAdvanced Level examinations and support student’s transition between the Key Stages, including from Key Stage 2 to 3. At Key Stage 4, we offer a two-year linear iGCSE course with Edexcel for students who all choose either 2 or 3 individual sciences.

At Key Stage 5, all 3 sciences constitute some of the most popular options for A Level. In Physics, for example, there will be as many as 75 students in 5 sets; in Chemistry there are also 5 groups and in Biology there are 4.

Our Science laboratories are equipped with interactive smartboards used by students and staff for a range of simulation and research applications.  In addition to that, all students at Doha College are furnished with an iPad upon entry.

The Science department also offers a wide range of extra-curricular activities including a highly popular annual Medical Review Conference promoted by COBIS (Council of British International Schools). We also offer science clubs and biennial fieldtrips to Malaysia.  The department has strong commercial links with some of the major companies operating in Qatar which provides students with ample experience of science in action.

This is a very exciting time to join our Science Department with further expansion and the move to a new campus planned for September 2019. Once in situ, the Science Department will be housed in state-of-the-art, fully equipped laboratories with generous alternative learning spaces and preparation areas.

As head of a thriving flagship department, which is well respected in the British international educational field, you will be an inspirational leader and trend setting teacher, who will be responsible for overseeing the creative teaching of all science subjects, monitoring and evaluation of student achievement and ensuring that the department continues to thrive and contribute to accomplishing the college’s vision and mission. 4. A growth mindset and an interest in developing high performance learning skills
  5. A first or 2:1 (honours) degree and a postgraduate teaching qualification or equivalent as well as experience of teaching Science in the UK or a British international school abroad
