Head of Science
Required from September/Easter 2018
Chesterton Community Sports College is seeking to appoint a highly motivated, dynamic and ambitious Head of Science who will bring their passion and energy to inspire and enthuse children of all abilities.
The successful candidate will teach and promote this core subject across the school. They will also be responsible for leading and developing the department.
Chesterton Community Sports College is an above average school with a progress score of +0.23. We consistently achieve excellent results and Science continues to be a leading department in delivering outstanding results, achieving positive progress across both Core & Additional Sciences (+0.98 and +0.89 respectively), and in separate sciences, where 50% of pupils achieved As and A*s across all subjects. The department is passionate about making ‘Scientists of the Future’ by delivering outstanding lessons using the latest technology. Each lab is equipped with an interactive whiteboard and Apple Mac technology that staff can access through their MacBook Air and iPad.
The successful candidate will be expected to:
· Lead and develop the Science department
· Teach the full ability range in both Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4
· Have a proven record of effective teaching
· Have a high level of subject knowledge across all science disciplines
· Track and monitor pupil progress across the department
· Successfully manage a range of staff
· Have experience of managing a Science prep. room
· Take part in the extra-curricular life of the school
