A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic Head of Science to lead our dynamic department.

The science department has made huge strides under the current Head of Department, whereby we achieved our highest ever GCSE Biology, Chemistry and Physics results in 2021-22 and showed a continued improvement in attainment in Combined Science, leading to 69% of all science qualifications achieving grade 4 or above. Our post 16 is growing and from September we will be offering BTEC Forensic Science alongside our suite of A level sciences. We are now looking to appoint the right candidate to lead the department on its next step on its journey to outstanding..

The Science Department at Outwood Academy Hemsworth is a large and thriving department. Our team of 10 teachers deliver high quality lessons in specialist labs all contained within a purpose-built building. This is supported by our brilliant team of technicians.

As a member of the Outwood Family you will share our vision of “Students First” and be able to work collaboratively with our  network of outstanding heads of science and senior leaders . You will be supported on your journey by our Directors of Science.
