Head of Secondary Department (English Stream)

The German Swiss International School (GSIS) is one of Hong Kong's leading international schools, with 200 faculty and staff providing dual language education to a multinational student body of ca 1,300 students. We are inviting applications from experienced and qualified candidates for the following position commencing in August 2017.

HEAD OF SECONDARY DEPARTMENT (ENGLISH STREAM)

The English Secondary Department (ESD) prepares our students for the UK I/GCSE and the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma. The teaching staff in the ESD is drawn from the English speaking world. The Head of Department is responsible for maintaining our high academic standards and ensuring the successful progress and well-being of our students. The Head of English Secondary Department provides the overall management and professional leadership of faculty staff of the ESD (around 55 teaching staff and 450 students). As part of the Senior Management Team, s/he will work on the school’s strategy as well as the implementation, management and evaluation of cross-stream and whole school policies.

Applicants should have a history of effective leadership within the international education sector. We are looking for an excellent communicator, with superb interpersonal skills and a warm personality and the ability to build relationships of trust and confidence. S/he should be familiar with the principles, processes and implementation of school self-review and curriculum development. The successful candidate will have taught a range of age groups from Y07 to Y12 and will have recent teaching experience.
