St George’s School seeks an experienced professional to lead our thriving Secondary School, to begin August 2017

The School

Serving the international community in Duisburg-Dusseldorf for over 10 years, St George’s School combines an enriching curriculum with family orientated care. The school has grown from small beginnings into a thriving community of over 700 pupils, aged from 2-18 and representing a broad range of nationalities.

The National Curriculum is taught throughout the school, and we offer the IB Diploma in our Sixth Form.

The Location

Located on a new, purpose built campus in the heart of Germany’s Rhine-Ruhr region, St George’s School enjoys direct transport links to the cities of Dusseldorf and Duisburg, as well as to the greater Rhine-Ruhr area.

Germany’s sixth largest city, Dusseldorf is a dynamic and vibrant cultural centre, with a large and diverse international community. Situated in the heart of Europe, Dusseldorf offers a high standard of living, as well as numerous opportunities for travel and cultural discovery.

Dusseldorf airport is located only 15km from the school, with many daily flights to the UK, and high speed rail services connect Dusseldorf to a wide range of European destinations.

The Role

This is an exciting and challenging opportunity for a dynamic and forward thinking secondary leader. St George’s School, Duisburg-Dusseldorf is a mature and respected institution with community of approximately 700 pupils and 100 teachers. Our Secondary School provides a rich curriculum to over to 350 pupils from the age of 11 to 18 years. Its success has been built by dedicated and caring teachers over many years. This position is both prestigious and demanding.

In September 2017, we are seeking to appoint an energetic and progressive Head of Secondary who is able to build on the excellent work of their predecessor. Pupils in our Secondary School follow the National Curriculum, taking IGCSE examinations at 16 and the IB Diploma at 18. We are proud of the results they achieve, and aim to continue to build on this academic success in future years.

The Head of Secondary is a key member of the school’s senior management team. This appointment requires an excellent communicator with a proven record in leading a large number of staff, whilst promoting whole school interests and requirements. Experience managing budgets, driving action plans, promoting pupil progress and welfare, as well as working closely with parents, is essential to this role.
