Job overview

Are you an experienced school leader, looking for a new challenge in a small and growing school? We are looking for an outstanding Head of Secondary to join our team. We are a through school for ages 3 to 18, following the English National Curriculum, IGCSE and IBDP curricula, with the Italian Ministerial programme available in parallel for native Italian speakers. Southlands students are fantastic: diverse, kind and good humoured, they are a daily source of inspiration. In academic terms, they achieve strong examination results, excel in languages and access their first choice universities. Our teachers come from all around the world, and are united in a common dedication to supporting their students’ success and happiness.

If you love learning and strive to inspire that same passion in others: staff and students alike, and at the same time, you understand and can model the necessity of dedicated time, concentration and hard work in achieving and exceeding goals, then this could be a great role for you. You will have an instinctive and professional awareness of what makes a great school tick, and, working within a supportive and dynamic leadership time, will have autonomy and agency to grow the school and take it to the next level in its evolution.

As part of the Globeducate network of schools, our students and teachers benefit from being part of a worldwide family with a shared belief in the pivotal role of education in building a better future.

Southlands British International School is located forty minutes south of the historic centre of Rome, and just 10 minutes from the sea at Ostia. We are located on a semi rural campus and enjoy plenty of open spaces where we can take learning outside the classroom and enjoy the famous Roman sunshine!

If this sounds like the right place for you, then we'd love to hear from you.

Please apply via TES

Closing date for applications: Friday January 28th, 4 pm CET

About Southlands British International School

Our School

Established in 1976, Southlands is an outstanding British International School in the south of Rome. We offer a holistic British international education for students aged three to 18 on a spacious rural campus.  Our combination of small classes and dedicated teachers ensure that every one of our students reaches their full potential.

Southlands is proud to be a part of Globeducate, meaning we are able to offer our students opportunities for studying abroad, and taking part in international competitions with other schools in the group. This not only enriches the multi-cultural nature of the educational environment and life experience of our students, but also generates companionship, and reinforces value-systems.

Globeducate

Globeducate has a network of more than 55 schools across three continents, welcoming more than 28,000 students each day. Each institution is dedicated to academic excellence and shaping students to become global citizens of the future.

Like other Globeducate schools, Southlands British International School is committed to the United Nations 2030 Sustainable Development Goals. Within this commitment, we have entered into partnerships with international organisations such as the Eco-schools Project and WWF (World Wildlife Fund), participating in global school projects that involve students, teachers and parents, and bringing together a worldwide community of more than 100,000 people.

These partnerships are a great opportunity for our students, allowing them to interact with students from different countries and cultures to address some of the environmental challenges we face and to gain awareness of how to tackle them. Our aim is to ensure that our students are committed to making the world a better place for everyone to live in, preparing them to embrace the great challenges of our time.
