If so, you will be interested in this outstanding opportunity to join an established international school in Guayaquil, Ecuador, as Head of Secondary School.

About the Opportunity

This opportunity will suit a skilled and hard-working teacher who has at least three years leadership experience in a British style international school. We are seeking applications from experienced and dynamic practitioners who have a proven track record of successful leadership in a whole school context. The school has over 1,000 students on roll, and will provide an exceptional British style education, leading to UK and international qualifications, to mostly Ecuadorian students. 

Joining the Orbital Group will provide the successful candidate the platform to further their career within a fast paced and constantly expanding environment. The group currently owns and operates 10 international schools in culturally attractive and historically important destinations, such as Russia, Spain, Qatar, Hungary, Slovenia, and China, in addition to our established and successful school in Quito, Ecuador.

About the Role

The Head of Secondary is accountable for standards within the secondary phase, including curriculum, teaching and learning, and student and staff performance.  In this role you will support the delivery of the school's mission and vision, through the implementation and constant monitoring of the academic programmes. 

The role requires an individual who can successfully motivate and manage by delegating responsibility, setting clear expectations and targets and evaluating performance, to ensure all pupils and staff are empowered to excel and surpass expectations. 

The successful candidate will be an integral member of the Senior Leadership Team and play a key role in the development and implementation of the school’s strategic plan.  Full professional competence and experience of working in Spanish is essential.

Frequently referred to as the Pearl of the Pacific, Guayaquil is the largest city in Ecuador, with the country’s main port and a population of three million.

Guayaquil offers a good quality of life, good healthcare, transportation and a growing economy. The city has a relaxed, welcoming, and friendly environment, with an all year-round summertime and average temperatures between 23-27C.

Guayaquil has an International airport with regular flights to Europe, the US, and the region.
