Founded in 2006, The Newton Group is the largest network of schools in Qatar. Our international schools deliver the British National Curriculum across all age groups. We are staffed by British and English speaking teachers who provide a caring educational environment for our local and expatriate students who come from a wide range of backgrounds. NIS Lagoon was founded in August 2011 and has BSO accreditation.

 About the Opportunity

We are seeking to recruit a highly motivated and dynamic school leader as Head of Secondary, with effect from August 2023. The successful candidate will be an outstanding leader and teacher. Ideally the person may have been a Head of Secondary or a Deputy Head of Secondary and experience teaching the English National Curriculum and have concrete experience of teaching Key Stage 3 to Key Stage 5.

The successful candidate will be a member of the Senior Leadership Team, playing a key role in the development and implementation of the school’s strategic plan and managing the academic and pastoral programmes of the Secondary School in line with the Vision, Mission and Values of the School.

Applicants should be an energetic and dedicated practitioner who will:

·        Provide leadership in curriculum planning, development, monitoring, evaluation and assessment.

·        Create conditions which ensure that the school is focused on effective teaching and learning according to the standards, principles and practices of the National Curriculum.

·        Promote the development of high academic achievement, through data analysis and early interventions to support students’ learning.

·        Provide leadership in the development and implementation of academic policies and practices that are consistent with the school’s academic goals and values.

·        Promote a culture of life-long learning among staff and students.

·        Encourage strong student and staff relations.

·        Ideally have direct experience of teaching to IGCSE and A Level

·        Present excellent IT and interpersonal communication skills in order to work collaboratively with staff, students and Parents. 

·        Have studied full time and produce degree transcripts from the university they attended
