BSM will appoint for August 2020 an exceptional Head of Secondary School to work as a key contributing partner in a dynamic and strong Leadership Team to significantly develop and advance the programmes and standing of our school.  The successful candidate will be a compelling and experienced educational leader to build on the solid foundations of an inspiring Secondary School through its next exciting phase.

 The successful candidate will have the following executive responsibilities:

  • Distributed leadership with the Secondary Leadership and Executive Leadership Teams.
  • Strategic planning.
  • Leading and developing vision-aligned values and understanding.
  • Understanding and leading change processes.
  • Curriculum development.
  • Sharing responsibility for planning and coordinating initiatives within the whole school.
  • Developing and leading high levels of collaborative performance.


 The successful candidate is expected to demonstrate abilities in:

  • Motivational and collaborative leadership. 
  • Managing Secondary School operations in in an international school environment that are mission-driven and vision-led.
  • Modeling and conveying core values and traditions.
  • Engaging and developing collaborative relationships with all stakeholders.
  • Designing strategic processes for growth and development.
  • Selection, recruitment and retention strategies.
  • Engaging effective appraisal processes and structures.


The successful candidate must show a depth of knowledge and experience in, amongst others, the following key areas:

  • Extensive teaching experience in international school  environments.
  • Established network links with:
  1. International school communities across the globe
  2. International professional educational bodies and associations
  3. International higher education providers
  • Knowledge and experience in leading school appraisals and accreditations with international bodies such as CIS, CIS, FOBISIA, COBIS and WASC.
  • Experience in IBDP and CAIE and/or other international academic programmes.
  • Experience in developing strategies for higher education placements and scholarships.
  • Innovative strategic curriculum development. 
  • Leading relevant CPD for teaching and leadership development and mentoring.
  • Sound budgeting experience.
  • Strategies for enhancing the teaching and learning environment for optimal academic performance.
  • And... a sense of humour

About The British School Manila

The British School Manila (BSM) is a co-educational, private, not-for-profit British international school.

Founded in 1976, the school has grown from 2 classrooms and 32 students in its first year to the present day where BSM welcomes 950+ students aged 3-18, representing 50+ nationalities.

Our School

Our school is a fully accredited member of the Council of International Schools (CIS) and the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC), a founding member of the Federation of British International Schools in Asia (FOBISIA) and a member of the East Asian Regional Council of Schools.

Our teaching staff come from a range of backgrounds with experience of the British and other highly regarded curricula. We offer classes from Nursery to Year 13 with three classes per year group.

The majority of BSM graduates attend College in the U.S. and  U.K., but our college placement data shows our students attend colleges all over the world.

The school year is divided into 3 terms: Term 1 from August to December, Term 2 from January to March, and Term 3 from April to June.

Our Curriculum

BSM teaches an adapted form of the National Curriculum of England in EYFS and Years 1-9. This is followed in Years 10 & 11 with a comprehensive range of Edexcel and Cambridge (I)GCSE courses. In Year 12 and 13 students experience the internationally renowned and recognised IB Diploma programme, which helps students develop their breadth and depth of knowledge ready for further education.

We are also proud of our wider curriculum. We offer more than 180 After School Activities (ASA), a rich and diverse programme that caters for all student interests and develops their sporting, creative, academic and artistic talents. Our service learning programme is designed to prompt both action and reflection and ensure our students develop the capacity for empathy and a sense of responsibility for others.  Our residential trips provide our students with opportunities to step out of their comfort zone, to appreciate cultural differences and to celebrate diversity.

Our school is located in Bonifacio Global City, a safe, pedestrian-friendly, vibrant and modern district of Taguig, Manila, full of international brands, family-friendly restaurants, shops and other facilities.
