The ideal candidate should have experience in developing new schools and in liaising with and setting up links with (I)GCSE examination boards.  Experience in IB would be preferred.

In August 2018, the British School Yangon will move from its current location to a large, state of the art, purpose-built facility.

Suitable candidates for this post will:

  • Lead the planning and development of the Secondary school and take charge of its day-to-day operations
  • Foster a culture of high standards that aims to bring out the best in every member of the school
  • Ensure the Secondary school is properly staffed with the highest possible calibre professionals.
  • Establish an excellent (I)GCSE Key Stage 4 programme
  • Lead the Secondary school through a successful ISI inspection
  • Work closely with colleagues on the Senior Leadership Team to strategically improve the school
  • Develop a roadmap for the implementation of the IB for 6th form
  • Provide clear and positive leadership in an exciting, developing school.

The closing date is Monday November 14th 2016.

Remuneration includes a competitive salary, housing, international medical cover, annual flights, relocation allowance and bursaries for accompanying children. The school and BSF provide strong opportunities for ongoing professional development.

The British Schools Foundation (BSF) and all BSF schools are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.  Applicants must be prepared to undergo stringent child protection screening including checks with past employers.  An enhanced DBS check is required.

The British Schools Foundation (BSF) opened The British School Yangon (BSY) in August 2014. The Foundation is one of the largest networks of British international schools in the world with schools in Spain, China, Russia, Brazil, Uzbekistan, Malaysia and The Philippines.  Confidence is high that Myanmar will be one of the next rising stars in Asia.

The school prides itself on a very happy atmosphere but shows high attainment in academic, performing arts and sports. We teach the English National Curriculum with regional modifications to celebrate our host country.

The school is now the most popular among expatriates here in Yangon and to facilitate our expansion, we require enthusiastic and committed teachers and excellent role models for our students.
