Job overview

We are a specialist department within Leeds City College, ensuring that as a college we identify and meet the support needs of all of our SEND students. We work with parents and carers, many multi-agency teams and young people to enable us to support the specific support needs documented in EHCPs in order to help young people fulfil their educational potential. We also work to identify those who may need additional support and Exam Access Arrangements. We are looking to recruit someone who can lead and develop a large team to effectively support our SEND and High Needs learners across the college.


WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Lead and manage the SEND department, taking responsibility for managing the budget and ensuring quality support is in place for SEND and High Needs learners
  • Support College and Group managers and other staff to fully embed the SEND agenda, in order to provide an outstanding, inclusive, and aspirational experience for students and staff
  • Support the Director to ensure that SEND across the group is innovatively developed, research led and based on / develops best practice
  • Develop and lead strategies and projects, including work with external stakeholders to support outstanding outcomes for SEND students, including how to prepare for adult life, supported internships, apprenticeships, traineeships, work and further learning
  • Ensure that all Luminate FE colleges meet all SEND legislative requirements, including EHC plan reviews and exam access arrangements
  • Ensure that all relevant funding is applied for / claimed to enable quality support to be implemented

 

YOUR PROFILE 

  • You will promote initiatives that continually improve the student experience and all service provisions across the group
  • You will have thorough and up to date Knowledge of Government policy in relation to SEND and education and skills, including its funding and curriculum / qualification reform
  • You will have proven experience managing staff in an educational setting
  • You will have experience of successful administration and management of financial budgets
  • You will be able to review current systems and develop a process for continued innovation and improvement.
