British International School of Tbilisi (BIST) is looking to recruit a Head of Sixth Form to establish its A Level programme and Sixth Form for our exciting and unique not-for-profit independent school.
BIST currently provides for about 260 children aged 3 to 16 from over 40 countries. Our modern purpose-built campus, which extends over 15,000 square metres, is situated next to a natural lake, on the hills overlooking the city of Tbilisi. The state-of-the art facilities incorporate many important features that support innovative teaching and learning in the 21st Century. We adapt the English National Curriculum alongside the International Primary Curriculum to offer a creative and flexible curriculum that leads to Cambridge IGCSE at Key Stage 4. In September 2019 the school will start its A Level programme. The school is a member of the Council of British International Schools (COBIS).
BIST's new Sixth Form and A Level programme will commence in August 2019 with students currently at BIST and new students from outside the school and/or country.
A Head of Sixth Form would be a senior leadership team member with specific responsibility for the academic and pastoral development of students and university guidance. The post is a teaching one with a reduced timetable to allow time to work specifically with students, teachers and leadership on Sixth Form developments and initiatives.
Any applicants need to be able to offer one of the subject teaching positions currently advertised.
BIST students and staff are committed to supporting the wider community through our wide-ranging BIST community programmes. All teachers also support and contribute actively to our cross-curricular days and weeks, our diverse programme of extra-curricular activities, and the PSHE programme. Secondary teachers will be expected to teach their subject to IGCSE level and to prepare students for AS Levels in the 2019-20 academic year and then offer AS and A Level courses thereafter.
The successful candidate will have recent UK/international experience, be highly motivated, well organised and possess UK qualifications (or equivalent internationally recognised qualifications). An understanding of the benefits and challenges of living in a rapidly developing country is an advantage.
Staff members at BIST enjoy a stimulating, supportive working environment and pay and conditions compare very well with other international schools in the region. BIST net pay scales are above UK net pay scales and this is enhanced with an annual air ticket, full medical cover, a housing allowance and the opportunity to work and live in a beautiful and fascinating country. The successful candidates will join a team of enthusiastic and committed staff in this highly popular and well-regarded school.
Applicants who are currently in Sixth Form leadership positions are encouraged to apply, but other relevant experience of staff not currently in such roles will be taken into consideration in shortlisting.
Please submit a completed BIST application form and supporting letter by Friday 23rd November 2018.
We encourage early applications as we will begin initial interviews prior to the deadline. Please complete the attached application form and send it to firstname.lastname@example.org Candidates will be formally interviewed via skype and also have the opportunity for an informal skype discussion prior to this.
