Job overview

Plumstead Manor is a thriving girls’ school of 1,500 students in the Royal Borough of Greenwich, with 300 students in a mixed Sixth Form. Our focus as a school is to make sure our students are happy, well-disciplined and confident, at the same time as being stretched and challenged so that they excel and thrive in their future lives. We are a rapidly improving school where high quality teaching, in a safe and friendly environment is the key to unlocking the potential that we believe all our young people have. We blend an emphasis on academic scholarship, alongside our expectations for strong discipline, excellent behaviour and a relentless focus on the personal, social and emotional development of every young person. This embodies our commitment to seeing all our students flourish and succeed, as we want every door to be open to them in their future lives.

We have an opportunity for an experienced teacher who shares our vision and positive ethos, to lead the pastoral provision of a mixed cohort of students in the Sixth Form. You will support the Senior Assistant Head for P16 to promote a culture of high expectations, active leadership and positive participation by students, ensuring that young people of all abilities and background achieve their potential. An important part of this role is to raise the achievement agenda in Years 12 and 13 by holding curriculum areas to account and by supporting the coordination and deployment of school resources and interventions to boost achievement and progress.

We can offer you the opportunity to further your professional development in a supportive and friendly environment, together with well-behaved and enthusiastic students and a whole school commitment to excellence and justice, in a successful and harmonious community.

About Plumstead Manor School

Plumstead Manor is a thriving and popular secondary school located in the Royal Borough of Greenwich. There has been a school on our site since 1913, with the first 105 years as a girls’ school. In response to local demand we admitted our first mixed cohort in 2018 and gradually move to being fully co-educational by 2022.

We are a large, inclusive, comprehensive school and have capacity for 1,500 students aged 11-18. We have our own Sixth Form of around 300 students and welcome students from our own cohort as well as students from within the local area. Our students progress onto the full range of future pathways, including medicine and veterinary science courses at the most competitive universities and high-quality apprenticeships.
