Job overview

Framlingham College is a co-educational day and boarding school comprising of the Prep School in the beautiful surroundings of Brandeston Hall, and the Senior School which is set in the stunning surroundings in the market town of Framlingham. Curiosity and inquiry are at the heart of a vibrant learning culture and at Framlingham College we believe that every child should experience the joy that is to be found in learning. A Framlingham College education aims to nurture essential skills and habits – adaptability, teamwork and good decision-making for example – by weaving them into the curriculum. We are determined to prepare our young people for their adult world.

As such, we require a dynamic and forward-thinking Head of Sixth Form to join our team. This is an exciting time to join the College and the successful candidate will actively promote the recruitment of pupils from the UK and overseas as well as lead the strategic direction of the Sixth Form in collaboration with the Senior Leadership Team. For the right candidate, this position could be a Senior Leadership Role. Salary is negotiable dependent on experience. The post holder will ensure that the Sixth Form experience for every pupil at Framlingham College is inspiring, rigorous, purposeful and aspirational. We will offer you extensive ongoing CPD opportunities and a highly supportive working environment as well as a range of other staff benefits.

Applicants must have experience of sixth form teaching, as well as leading and managing people. A willingness to make a full contribution to life in this busy boarding school is essential.

We welcome all applications especially from independent thinkers, creative minds and inspirational teachers and very much look forward to receiving your application.

'Where every pupil creates their own story' - Rated 'Excellent' (ISI Inspection 2022)

Framlingham College is a boarding and day school for boys and girls aged 3-18 which offers flexible and full boarding options.

This is a school that is interested in the development of the whole person as well as the examination candidate, and we encourage our pupils to open their minds, to aim high in all they do, and to make the most of the opportunities available to them. The College has a fine record in stretching the most able pupils, and we know that the bright child will do as well here as they will anywhere else, while our ‘value-added’ rating for those pupils who are not automatically destined to achieve A grades at GCSE and A Level stands alongside the very best in the country. Individual programmes of study provide each pupil with the knowledge and expertise to realise their full academic and personal potential, and the majority of our leavers go on to top British universities, including Oxford and Cambridge. What is certain is that all pupils can be assured of the highest professional quality of provision and individual care in all areas of school life, whatever their strengths or interests.

Framlinghamians leave here with a strong sense of self and a keen awareness of - and sensitivity to - the world around them. The adult world that they will be entering will be a very different one from a generation ago, and we want our pupils to leave here excited – rather than daunted – by the challenges that it will hold.

The College (both Senior and Prep Schools) was rated 'Excellent' by the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) in 2022. To view the Inspection Reports in full as well as an Executive Summary of feedback, visit: https://www.framlinghamcollege.co.uk/inspection.
