This is an exciting time to join our Languages Faculty as it strives to develop its curriculum, both within lessons and in terms of enrichment, and grow numbers at GCSE and A Level.
We seek a professional, dedicated linguist to assume the role of Head of Spanish, which reports to the Head of Faculty (Languages) and is responsible for maintaining the highest academic standards in Spanish teaching. Specific responsibilities of the role are to coordinate the Spanish curriculum (Years 7-9, GCSE and A Level), and manage the provision of learning Spanish through lessons and enrichment eg trips. It is also expected that the Head of Spanish will deputise for the Head of Faculty (Languages) as necessary.

The ideal candidate:
- A good degree in Spanish or a related MFL discipline
- Teaching experience across the full age and ability range from KS3 and KS5
- Proven ability to motivate learners and raise achievement
- Ability to use assessment data to inform planning and set targets
- Team player who is flexible in outlook and attitude
- Patient, friendly and approachable
- Understanding and supportive of the School's ethos
- Positive, enthusiastic, flexible with a pro-active ‘can do’ attitude

Abingdon-on-Thames is an historic, modern market town situated eight miles south of Oxford, with its world renowned reputation as a centre of academic excellence. The town has undergone development to upgrade the central shopping area providing a selection of restaurants, cafes and bars situated a just few minutes walk away from the river and gardens of Abbey Meadows. The town supports a mixed international community and has excellent bus links to Oxford, which is just a 15 minute ride away and provides a wealth of social and cultural opportunities.

- Two referees should be provided, one of whom must be your current or most recent employer. References will be requested prior to interviews taking place.
- In addition to the interview, candidates can expect to complete other selection exercises and there will be an opportunity to have a tour of the School.
- Applicants will be required to prove their right to work in the UK at interview. The School is unable to offer sponsorship to candidates who do not have worker status.
- The successful candidate will be required to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) and social media check, in addition to other necessary safeguarding measures.
