We are looking for an experienced Head of SEND to be responsible for the Skills for Work and Living (SfWL) provision and Additional Learning Support (ALS) functions across New College Stamford. The successful candidate will be accountable to the Director of Learning – Development & Welfare, ensuring a high quality, dedicated support and delivery service for students with Learning Difficulties and/or Disabilities (LLDD).
New College Stamford is celebrating the outcome of its recent Ofsted visit, with the inspection team confirming that the education provided by the College is 'Good' with a 'well-established culture of high expectations'. They stated that ‘Learners who have high needs make good progress in programmes specially designed for them, and those who participate in other courses progress in line with their peers. They develop appropriate skills that prepare them well for independent living, employment and further learning’.
The successful candidate must have a good understanding of students and how they learn, a demonstrable record of curriculum innovation and development and raising student participation, achievements and progress. Experience of government policy in relation to SEND and in particular the EHCP process is essential along with good leadership skills and the ability to work to tight deadlines in a pressurised environment.
