The School: Situated on a spacious, leafy campus with impressive facilities, Sotogrande International School is an IB World day and boarding school which has recently been awarded Apple Distinguished School status. We offer the IB programmes throughout from PYP in our Primary School, to MYP in our Middle School and through to the IB Diploma in our Upper School.  Now in its 36th year, the school has grown steadily and enjoys a strong reputation for quality education in Spain. The student body will grow to over 900 students by September 2017.  We currently have 130 students studying the IB Diploma Programme in our Upper School, where academic standards are high.  The most recently graduated cohort scored an average IB Diploma score of 33.4 points. Due to the expansion of student and staff numbers, the school’s facility plans are also developing. By September 2017, we hope to have covered and heated our 6 lane 25m swimming pool. The school has also purchased adjacent land in order to improve provision for our teaching and learning in the future. Furthermore, we are increasing exciting partnerships with world renowned elite sports providers.

The Post: Head of Sport and Secondary Physical and Health Education teacher

From September 2017 we are looking for an inspirational and dedicated Head of Sport to build on our current successes and further develop our existing programmes. Applicants will be fully qualified teachers with exceptional subject knowledge, IT literate and experience of leading and preparing high performing sports teams. The applicant should be a creative, flexible innovator and motivator, who aims to consistently deliver high quality physical and health education lessons and an outstanding high performance curricular and extra-curricular sports programme to pupils between the ages of 11-18 years.

Applicants will ideally have knowledge and / or experience of the IBO PYP, MYP PE and Diploma SEHS / Advanced Level Physical Education, although this is not essential. He / she should have a proven track record of outstanding teaching and learning, as well as a thorough knowledge and passion for a variety of traditional team games such as football, field hockey, basketball, volleyball and rugby. There is an expectation that the successful application will create, lead and coordinate high profile, exciting and innovative whole school community events, such as sports days, swimming galas, student-parent triathlons, local or foreign expeditions/ sports trips, large sports tournaments, etc.

Applicants should be confident differentiating and working with students from diverse cultural and language backgrounds. He / she will be an excellent communicator, who gets on well with colleagues, students, parents, technology and change.

Sotogrande International School enjoys an excellent reputation within and beyond Spain for the standard of its PE and sport, particularly in football, golf and tennis where our facilities and high performance programmes are amongst the best. The successful candidate will have the ability to contribute to our extensive competitive sports programmes and particular expertise in the development of and high level coaching within football and basketball would be an advantage.

The applicant will also be required to collaborate with our PHE Leader of Learning and Sports Academies Coordinator. A high level of skill in sports administration, marketing, public relations and promoting community sport would be advantageous.
