Blaise High School prides itself on the education it provides to our children, and this is reflected in the Sport department. Our vision is for all students to gain an understanding of their physical, cognitive and social self so that they become confident and motivated adults who strive to be physically active throughout their lives. The motivated PE department lead on this and the possibilities for the school and department to develop are exciting. Blaise High School will be a force for sporting competition in Bristol. 

This is an opportunity for an enthusiastic sport specialist to play a key role in leading our Sport team. We are passionate about ensuring that students gain an understanding of their physical, cognitive and social self in order to become confident and motivated adults that strive to be physically active. We believe being physically healthy and aware is an integral part of all young peoples development. The middle leaders at Blaise High School are the heart of the school. They drive the school improvement journey and lead on the development of our curriculum. We are incredibly excited about this opportunity. 

The successful candidate will join a team who are passionate about using traditional teaching methods to support children to climb their own personal mountains to the very best Universities in the country or careers of their choosing.  We are looking to recruit a colleague with both the commitment and relevant skills to drive our raising standards agenda across the whole ability range. We believe that there is no ceiling on what children can achieve if the correct conditions are created and the successful candidate will share this belief. 

  • To plan, implement and deliver an appropriately broad, balanced, relevant and rigorous curriculum for students and to support a designated curriculum area (Sport) as appropriate
  • To lead teachers within the department, ensuring the highest quality, academically rigorous and challenging lessons are delivered.  
  • To arrange fixtures and competitions for students across all year groups
  • To provide sports enrichment opportunities for students
  • To monitor and support the overall progress and development of students as a Teacher
  • To deliver our reading programme during Tutor Time Reading in the mornings   
  • To deliver high quality, academically rigorous lessons, in line with the principles of cognitive science. 
  • To contribute to raising standards of student attainment across the school

We believe in evidence led approaches to teaching, and we teach in a traditional manner built around explicit and direct instruction. We firmly believe that teachers are the experts in the room, and teach from a high quality, knowledge - rich curriculum. For us, knowledge - rich does not mean knowledge heavy. We carefully select what we teach our children as we know that this is the most important decision we can make in a school. All of the knowledge that we teach children enables them to climb their own personal mountains to the very best universities in the country, or careers of their choosing.
