Head of STEM
Full-time or part-time considered | Permanent | Required for September 2025
Saint Christina’s School, St John’s Wood, NW8
We are seeking to appoint an inspiring, dynamic and intellectually curious Head of STEM to lead Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics across our school. This is a wonderful opportunity to shape a forward-thinking, ambitious STEM curriculum in a warm, values-led Catholic prep school for girls and boys aged 3–11.
As Head of STEM, you will design and deliver a high-quality curriculum that sparks curiosity, supports critical thinking, and helps children to see the relevance of STEM in the world around them. You will be responsible for leading outstanding teaching and learning in Science, Computing and Design Technology, and for developing exciting opportunities beyond the classroom, such as STEM Week, competitions, clubs and outreach.
You will join a school community that prizes kindness, character and intellectual growth, and where children are celebrated for their individuality, creativity and sense of wonder. Our strapline — Living, Learning, Leading — underpins all we do, and our four pillars of Knowledge, Skills, Culture of Thinking, and Character Formation guide our strategic direction.
This role may suit an experienced subject leader or an excellent classroom practitioner looking to take the next step. You will be well supported by a collaborative and committed staff team, a strong leadership structure, and a generous programme of professional development — including our investment in metacognition, P4C and critical thinking across the school.
We are looking for someone who:
- Is passionate about STEM and inspiring young learners
- Has strong subject knowledge and can model excellent teaching practice
- Can lead strategically while being hands-on and proactive
- Shares our commitment to curiosity, inclusion and pupil wellbeing
- Has QTS and experience in a primary or prep school setting
If you are excited by the idea of leading STEM in a setting where character, curiosity and community are at the heart of learning, we would love to hear from you.
How to apply:
Please complete the application form available on our website and submit it along with a covering letter addressed to the Headteacher, Mr. Walshe, outlining your experience and what attracts you to this role.
Closing date: Wednesday 14th May 2025
Interview date: Week commencing Monday 19th May 2025
Start date: September 2025
Saint Christina’s School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. The successful applicant will be subject to enhanced DBS clearance and reference checks.
