Job overview

Thetford Grammar School is one of the oldest educational establishments in the country, with our foundations as a seat of learning dating back over 1400 years.  In 2018, the school entered into an exciting new era, opening our international Early Years campuses in Shanghai and Changsha.

Due to the ongoing success of this programme, we are looking to appoint an outstanding Head of Studies to work closely with the Principle and a team of early years practitioners delivering a bespoke programme of learning for children from nursery to six years old.

The role, employed through Thetford Grammar School in the UK, will involve time spent in Shanghai, where fully-funded private accommodation is provided, as well as regular visits to our campuses elsewhere in mainland China.

We are seeking an inspirational, dynamic individual capable of motivating and guiding colleagues. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of success in, and an extensive understanding of, EYFS/Pre-Preparatory education. The role will be a challenging and busy one requiring collaboration with colleagues in China and Thetford. A flexible approach and an aptitude for teamwork will be essential.

Our Head of Studies will demand high standards of themselves and others and will act at all times as an ambassador for TGS. They will have the full support of the Principle and be an integral member of close teams in China and in England.

This opportunity would suit colleagues looking to advance to deputy headship and headship, as well as current senior leaders looking to gain international experience. We are keen to receive applications from state primary as well and independent pre-preparatory and preparatory sectors.

A highly competitive remuneration package including transport, accommodation and meals will be available to the right candidate.

Interested candidates are encouraged to arrange a telephone call with the Head, Mr Michael Brewer, prior to application. Please email hr@thetgram.norfolk.sch.uk for further information.

Closing date: Noon, Monday 24th May 2021. Early applications welcome, the school reserves the right to interview promising candidates ahead of closing.

Interviews week commencing 24th May or sooner.

The School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and all successful applicants must be willing to undergo child protection screening appropriate for the post, including checks with any past employer and the Disclosure and Barring Service.
