Head of Technology (Senior School).

Tes is currently supporting a prestigious international school, based in Beijing, China. The school is looking to add a Head of Technology to their progressive and supportive Senior Schoool ideally starting in September 2022.

The role will include managing the delivery of Technology (DT or Computer Science) at KS3, GCSE and A-level / IBDP across year groups 7 to 13. You will lead your department to enhance provision and will get the chance to lead on exciting project work throughout the year. Project work may include revising schemes of work and ensuring the curriculum is engaging to all learners alongside projects that support student attainment, well-being and engagement within the wider school. However, as Head of Department you will have full autonomy to ensure your department meets targets and exceeds needs of our learners. You will lead by example, supporting and empowering your department’s teachers, staff and pupils to achieve to the best of their ability. The Head of Department will also line manage the DT and Computing departments, supporting the SLT link and Headteacher to ensure the department achieve to its maximum potential.

“We are currently seeking an experienced Head of Technology (Senior School), to lead an innovative team of Technology teachers, who deliver our Design Technology (DT), STEM and Computer Science programmes in a creative and engaging manner. Students in years 7 and 8 follow a trimester rotation system of DT, STEM and Computer Science project-based learning courses that build foundational concepts, skills and knowledge. Year 9 students are offered a selection of two courses from four, that lead into our two option choices for Key Stage 4, which are our bespoke STEM course and IGCSE Computer Science.  The successful candidate will have a proven track record of designing and implementing curriculum developments, especially in an inter-disciplinary context. Our bespoke STEM course requires a teacher leader with an engineering background and experience of collaborating with colleagues in Science, Mathematics and Business. At Key Stage 5, we offer both the IBDP Design Technology and Computer Science courses. You will be a highly effective and dynamic classroom teacher, with a genuine commitment to putting students first. Safeguarding of students and teachers is of primary importance in our SE21 Technology Centre. The centre is fully equipped with workshops, robotics equipment, 3D Printers and machines of all types. Part of your role therefore, will be to ensure that the schools Health & Safety policy is correctly adhered to, and ensure safe working practices in the use of equipment and materials. The school expects:

• A UK teaching qualification such as PGCE/PGDE, SCITT, BEd or MEd with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

• a relevant Technology Degree or a related subject

• experience of delivering Technology (DT or Computer Science) up to A-level pushing and engaging learners to progress within the subject

• experience managing a department: specifically people and departmental management

• a love and passion for education.
